Taking Refuge, Transforming Adversity on the Path
March 3&4, San Francisco (at Against the Stream, SF Center)

With Lopön Chandra Easton and Noah Levine

This is a unique opportunity to practice and learn two of the best known western Buddhist methods for working with challenges in our lives: Refuge Recovery and Feeding Your Demons®. These methods are effective with addiction, eating disorders, grief, relationship issues, financial fears, or depression. The Buddhist path for treating addiction is one of developing a friendship with the ‘problem’ through wisdom and compassion, which is done through the practices of meditation, renunciation and wise actions such as service, making amends, forgiveness, and generosity. Feeding Your Demons® is a five-step process for meeting and nurturing the needs that lie beneath our so-called ‘demons.’ It has proven to be highly effective with addiction, PTSD, anxiety, and other emotional issues. Buddhism offers a non-theistic spiritual path, perfect for the discerning agnostic/atheist addict. Refuge Recovery is a program that can be worked in conjunction with or as an alternative to the Twelve Step Programs.

This event is intended and designed to be done as a whole weekend. If you are only able to attend one day, you may register for Saturday only. Sunday only is not an option as you would miss the entire first half and would be coming into the space not with the rest of the group.

COST: Sliding Scale: $75 – $150, plus an offering of DANA to the teacher. Please pay at the highest level you can afford to support our programs and pay it forward for those who have less. Scholarships and work-study are available. No is turned away for lack of funds.
Monthly supporters of ATS attend for no cost.

A Liberated Heart: Opening to Love, Compassion, Equanimity, and Joy. A Daylong for Women

Sat, March 24, 10am – 4pm (At Against the Stream, SF)

A Daylong Retreat with Chandra Easton, Eve Ekman, Pawan Bareja, and Juliana Sloane

Join us for a day of community, connection, and exploration of the four Brahma Viharas (Divine Abodes): Metta (love), Karuna (compassion), Mudita (empathetic joy), and Upekkha (equanimity). In the company of our fellow women practitioners, we will connect deeply with these essential heart qualities and their role in our lives.

The Brahma Viharas point us towards a way of meeting our lives that is courageous, caring, and deeply transformative: turning towards experience with an open heart and responding appropriately to what that moment truly calls for. Through practice, discussion, and story, we will explore together how these four immeasurables can help us meet the joys and challenges of our lives more fully.

This daylong is open to all self-identified women. We invite you to bring an offering to share for an optional potluck lunch.

$100 Plus Monthly Supporters attend for no cost.

Cost: $45-85 sliding scale, plus dana (donation) to support the teacher. Scholarships are available. No one turned away for lack of funds.
